The sewing blues...

Today I decided I would go into my personal sewing space and just do my thing. Well my thing (simple garment construction) doesn't seem to strike my fancy. Just can't seem to get it together, especially since I finally have this time (all to myself).

Any who, I persist on, determined to do something in my sewing room.  So I start looking on the Internet for some inspiration.  I search numerous sewing/crafting sites.  I felt like I was more interesting in what some body else was doing than getting going myself.  So why not blog about...why not?

Ok so the third paragraph in, I'm now wondering why I am sitting here typing when I could use this precious time sewing?

Now I've figured it out, I really don't want to sew right now, but feeling a little guilty about complaining about having the time to.

The moral...you don't have to do something you love just because you have the time to.  I'm going to just relax and do as little as possible, who knows when this opportunity will strike again.

Don't beat yourself up for just having the inkling to do nothing.  It's okay every once in a while:)!

PS.  It's Candy Crush time...Woohoo!!!

What is your diagnosis

What is your diagnosis

Here I am again, in the check-in line at my healthcare center.  You're always ask to arrive at-least 15 minutes early; yet you spend 20 minutes in line checking in.  So now your name has been called and suddenly you feel like a lottery winner giving that "haha I got called before you look" to the rest of the gang in the waiting room.

Okay so now that my blood pressure has gone off the charts after getting on the scale. I finally have a few minutes to myself.  Now it's more than a few minutes and I began to clock every second from this point on t'ill I see the doctor. What could be taking so long?

I know there is no cellphone usage once you're in the exam room, but the doc is not here yet and I'm tired of reading the anatomy charts on the wall.  So I start on my new guilty pleasure Candy Crush Saga realizing I've now used up all of my lives, finally the Doctor walks in ( giving me that no cellphone look.) She asks how am I doing.  Why can't I just say how the hell do you think I am, I've waiting for you long enough.  I respond as usual "fine". That can't be true can it I'm at the Doctors office note to self next time respond with "waiting for you to tell me"!

Anyhow, the exam is finally underway.   Before I can asked my list of questions that I rehearsed, the exam is over with. What just happened?  That was all of seven minutes (and I'm being kind).
Daag, now I have even more questions for my next visit.

Just how should your time slot with your Physician be spent? Should it just be about a quick check of the vitals, a brief comment about your weight and instruction on diet and exercise.....hmmm.

Lets recap:

arrive 15 minutes early,
wait 20 minutes in check-in line
Get called to the exam room
Wait another 10-15 minute before the Doctor shows up
7 minutes for the exam

Did I mention this was a six month check-up.  Thank goodness, I'd hate to think what would happen if I had a real medical issue oh wait...that's Urgent Care😳!

The begining...

The Moment I fell in love…with card making.

I love to sew. My girlfriends would always look to see what I’d make for myself. I’d make my own shirts, dresses…I even made my own bridesmaids dress to my best friend’s wedding.  I was DIY before it became popular. With the new age technology, I branched out to making invitations. I made all the invitations, placement cards, and menu cards for my 10th wedding anniversary celebration. Not only did it save me some money, it allowed me to share my passion with those whom I love on such a special day. Machine embroider and creating greeting cards have become my latest passion, with machine embroidery being something that I discovered about 5 years ago.

I have always attempted to embellish store bought cards. From there I moved onto greeting card software, and within the last two years I’ve been creating greeting cards from start to finish (and loving it!). Keep in mind I do not claim to be a professional card maker, but just someone who loves doing it. I don’t do scrapbook pages; I just never felt the love.

If you’re ready to get started, the first thing I would recommend is watch YouTube.  I wish I knew about YouTube before I decided to delve into card making. There are tons of videos from so many talented crafters that will inspire you.  Next, you should try out your local craft store to see what they offer by way of crafting projects, classes and other knowledge-based information.  As you progress, you'll discover the type of tools, cardstock and other crafting aids you’ll cling to most (sooner or later they will be on sale).  When I started out, I thought I had to have all of the latest tools and machines, (big mistake on my part) and now I have things I most likely won't ever use.

Once you get a feel for what it is you really like to create, then you can start investing in quality products whether it be online or at your local craft store. Bottom-line; take your time to see what it is you really want to do. Take a class or two (if you can) to see if it’s what you like, before overspending on items you’ll never use.

As I start this journey of sharing my passion for card making, you can subscribe to my YouTube channel, along with my blog. I’ll be featuring tutorials and some product reviews that can maybe help you as well. I’m excited and nervous at the same time, but open to learn more with every chance I get. Feel free to share some tips that may help others who come across this page.

Thank for taking the time out to read my first post. See you all soon!
